About Fos Scale Models
Thanks for visting Fos Scale Models. We have been producing model railroad structure kits since 2002, starting with the release of Big Lou’s Grill. Since then we have strived to live up to that unique little kit, by offering original, uncommon designs. Our kits include in-house, precision laser cut parts, metal cast detail parts and high quality plastic architectural parts from Tichy and wood from NorthEastern Scale Lumber.
Fos Scale Models is a two person, husband & wife operation; Doug & Anna Maria Foscale. Both Doug and Anna Maria have a variety of backgrounds in art. Doug has studied and worked in the fields of architecture, graphic design, product development and showroom design. Anna Maria has also worked professionally in graphic design and commercial art.
BUILDING CRAFTSMAN KITS:
If you’ve already built any kind of scale model, you’re already aware of the satisfaction brought to you by completing a detailed structure for a diorama or model railroad. If you haven’t, give one a try, starting off with a small, easy to build kit like one our Craftys. These are mini craftsman kits with the detail and character of the super kits. These structures are small and reasonably priced, but are the prefect opportunity to jump in and see how easy they are to build.
If you can harness the patience, all of these methods are simple and easy to perfect with some practice. That’s what each kit represents; another practice session. You will improve with each step, with each structure.
WHY WE MAKE CRAFTSMAN KITS
There are many reasons, but chief among them is an attempt at historical preservation. As all of our kits are designed with a mid-century mindset, it’s a great opportunity to portray that which has been lost through the years.
While fractionally smaller, three dimensional miniature representations of the past are as valid and important as text, painted canvas, sculpture and photographs. With that in mind we do regard craftsman kit and diorama building to be a form of art, rich in expression, style and composition.

Also in this year Doug joins the crew of the Scotty Mason Show, the monthly model railroading podcast featuring Scott, Dave Frary, Jimmy Deignan.
This year saw the release of some unique, eye catching kits starting with Deignan’s Bikini Car Wash, Hokum’s House of Burlesque and H. T. Gordon’s Brassiere and Corset Co.
